Why are we doing this
We wished cat therapy is an essential service. But it’s not. Neither can cat purrs be delivered nor packed in a take away box. So, our cafe will be closed from April to early July 2020 for Singapore's lockdown measures, where only essential services can remain open to minimise the spread of Covid-19.
During this trying period, our only source of income will be from this online store where we sell future capacity, accept donations and work towards listing our merchandise for sale.
Our overheads have always been kept as low as possible over the last 6.5 years. We do not believe in extravagance and we regularly donated to community cats in need. Unfortunately for this month that we are closed, we still need to pay for rent (albeit slightly discounted at the moment), feed the cat slaves, pay for cat supplies and on-going vet fees.
Being situated at Boat Quay, a large part of our revenue used to come from tourists. With what's happening in the rest of the world, it doesn't look like tourist numbers will recover even after the lock-down is over in Singapore.
We recognize that everyone is going through their own challenges and so we are immensely grateful for any amount that comes our way. Even sharing the link to our online store will help tremendously!
Meanwhile, we remain active on our socials, communicating and adapting to ensure we stay relevant. With our highly engaged following (12.3k on IG and 23k on FB), we most certainly welcome collabs as another income source. Please reach out to sue(at)catcafe.com.sg
Thank you for reading our appeal. Keep safe and take care.
Love,
